METIS Strategy Summit 2026: Backlit Stage Backdrop Case Study
For the METIS Strategy Summit 2026 in Mountain View, Frame Plus supplied a 4 m wide backlit stage backdrop behind the speakers. The brief called for an evenly illuminated graphic that remained clear on camera throughout the sessions and could travel to the next venue. The configuration uses 4 m backlit stage backdrop.

Frame Plus Supplies a 4 m Backlit Stage Backdrop for METIS Strategy Summit 2026
Mountain View — Frame Plus supplied a four-metre-wide illuminated stage backdrop for the METIS Strategy Summit 2026, creating a branded background behind the event’s speakers. The installation combined a freestanding lightbox frame with a printed silicone-edge fabric graphic and was assembled by one person in 15 minutes before the first session.
The project brought together three requirements: an evenly illuminated graphic, branding that remained clear on camera during the sessions, and a structure that could be packed away and transported to another venue. Rather than using a custom-built stage wall, the configuration used a modular frame with a replaceable fabric graphic.
A Branded Background for the Summit Stage
A conference backdrop occupies a different role from a conventional exhibition stand. Positioned behind the speakers, it becomes part of the setting for presentations and discussions, as well as the background seen in photographs and video.
For the METIS summit, the brief focused on a clear, illuminated graphic across a four-metre span. The display served as a single branded background, without the additional side walls or reception counter commonly found in an exhibition booth.
This distinction shaped the configuration. The project required a stage backdrop rather than a walk-in stand: one continuous display surface, supported by a freestanding structure, directly behind the presentation area.
The Four-Metre Display Configuration
The installation used a 4 m SEG lightbox, combining an edge-lit frame with a dye-sublimation-printed fabric graphic. The silicone edge of the printed fabric fits into the frame channel to form the display surface.
The frame and graphic perform separate functions. The frame provides the reusable structure and illumination, while the fabric carries the event branding. Keeping these elements separate allows the visual identity to be updated without replacing the entire display.
For a conference application, artwork preparation is also part of the planning process. Logos, text and other key elements need to be considered in relation to the finished display size and the presentation setting. Frame Plus provides artwork specifications for preparing print files before production.
One-Person Assembly Before the First Session
According to the project record, one installer assembled the backdrop in 15 minutes before the summit’s first session. The frame was assembled by hand from flat-packed sections, providing the branded background without constructing a permanent wall at the venue.
The recorded installation time gives a practical reference for this particular configuration. It describes the METIS project rather than a universal setup time for every stage or venue; access arrangements, display dimensions and the surrounding event schedule remain part of planning any subsequent installation.
In this case, the tool-free frame was central to the setup approach. The project used a structure intended to be assembled, dismantled and moved between events, while retaining a dedicated printed surface for the summit branding.
Packing Away the Structure for Future Events
The backdrop’s use did not end with the final session. After the event, the frame could be dismantled and packed flat for transport and storage.
A replacement fabric graphic provides a way to adapt the same structure for another summit edition or a different branded event. The physical frame can remain in use while the printed message changes—a useful distinction when planning a series of conferences rather than a single installation.
The METIS project therefore illustrates a focused application of a modular display: a single illuminated wall used as a conference stage background. For a different configuration involving several display walls, the Lightcast NAB Show case study shows how illuminated backdrops were combined within a larger exhibition setting.
